Green mango rasam

Ingredients :

  • 2 cups cut green mango
  • 6/8 cups water
  • 1 large tomato cut
  • 1/2 cup cooked moong dal or tur dal
  • 2 -3 tsp cumin and pepper powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp ghee
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • Pinch of hing
  • 2 green chilly
  • Few sprigs of curry leaves
  • Salt to taste

How to make:

  1. Cut mango with skin. Remove the seeds and boil in two cups of water with a pinch of salt and turmeric
  2. Once soft remove only the mango ( keep the water do not throw) . Cool and grind the mango pieces to a smooth paste
  3. In the pan which has the mango boiled water add another 5 cups of water, mango paste,tomato, curry leaves, grated ginger, cumin and pepper powder, slit green chili , hing and salt.
  4. Let all This come to a boil. Add the cooked dal. Adjust consistency and seasoning. Boil for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Heat a tsp of ghee and add cumin. Once it splutters, add this on top of the rasam.
  6. Serve this piping hot rasam as a side with rice or can be served as a soup .
