Ingredients :
- 2 or 3 ridge gourd
- 2 green chilly
- 1/2 cup fresh coconut
- 2 tsp jeera
- 1 cup moong dal cooked
- Hing 1/2 tsp
- 1 tbsp urad dal
- Salt
For tempering
- 1 tsp oil
- 1 tsp urad dal
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
How to make:
- Peel and cut the gourd into small pieces
- Boil in water with a little salt till almost done
- Add the cooked moong dal to it and pinch of asafoetida and cook for 5 minutes.
- Roast 1 tbsp urad dal in 1/2 tsp oil till brown
- Grind together the roasted urad dal, coconut, jeera, green chilly with little water into a smooth paste.
- Add this to the moong dal and veggie and boil. Add water if necessary. Consistency has to be like sambhar
- Heat a tsp of oil . Add the mustard seeds and urad dal. Pour over the kootu
- Yummy and simple kootu ready to eat with rice.
