Green Tomato Chutney

Green tomatoes are in season now so make the most of it. This is a delicious chutney which could be served as a side with lunch or with dosa and idli .

 

Again the traditional dosa in itself has little protein so to balance the meal I have added peanuts to my chutney. The green tomato adds the fiber . So dosa with chutney can be definitely made into a complete well balanced meal

Ingredients :

  • Green tomato 4
  • Onion 2
  • Green chilly
  • 2 tbsp peanut
  • 1 small piece of tamarind
  • 3 t pa fresh coriander
  • 2 tbsp fresh coconut
  • Oil
  • Salt

How to make:

  1. Cut the tomatoes and onion into this lengthwise pieces
  2. In a pan add oil. Roast the peanuts first. The add the onions
  3. Once onion are cooked and slightly brown add the tomato, green chilly, and tamarind
  4. Let the tomatoes cook fully and become soft.
  5. Add salt and the coconut and roast for a further minutes
  6. Remove from flame and cool completely
  7. Grind with coriander leaves .
  8. Try not to add water. Only a tbsp or so if necessary to bring all together
  9. Chutney is ready to serve with dosa
