Kodo Millet Upma

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup kodo millet (soaked )
  • 1 medium Sized onion chopped
  • 1 carrot finely chopped
  • 1 cup peas
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 2-3 green chilly
  • Few sprigs of curry leaves
  • 2-3 tbsp chopped coriander
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • Salt
  • 1.5 cups Water

 

How to make:

  1. Soak the millets for a minimum 4/5 hours. I usually soak mine overnight and they are ready to be made Into Upma for breakfast
  2. In a pan add a tsp oil. Add mustard seeds and groundnut.
  3. Next add the ginger, curry leaves and green chilly
  4. Add the onions and sauté
  5. Once done add the peas and carrot
  6. Cook for a while then add the tomatoes and coriander.
  7. Once done add water. The ratio is 1 cup millet : 1.5 water. Let the water boil and veggies cook.
  8. Then add the soaked millets. Add salt . Cover and cook. It should roughly take 20/25 minutes on a low flame.
  9. Once cooked add a tbsp of ghee mix well.
  10. Piping hot and delicious millet Upma is ready to be served.
