Raw mango sambhar

Ingredients :

  • 2-3 medium sized raw mango
  • 3/4 cup fresh grated coconut
  • 4/5 red chilly ( depending on the type of chilly and spice levels)
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tbsp raw rice
  • 1 tbsp jaggery
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • Salt to taste

How to make:

  1. Wash mango well. De- seed mango and cut into medium size pieces. Do not cut very small as they will disintegrate
  2. Add water, salt and turmeric and cook until soft.
  3. Grind coconut, chilly, mustard seeds, rice with water to make a paste
  4. Add this to the boiled mangoes with jaggery and a few curry leaves and boil well till the rawness of the paste goes. Adjust consistency if necessary.
  5. Season with 1/2 tsp of oil and add mustard seeds to it. Once it splutters add to the sambar.
  6. Serve hot with rice.
