Horse gram is a power house legume . Rich in protein and also abundant in calcium, iron . The benefits are immense.
I’m sharing a horse gram chutney which goes well with either rice, dosa, Idli or even Roti
Ingredients :
- 1 cup horse gram/ kulith
- 1/4 cup freshly grated coconut
- 1 big lemon size tamarind
- 1 tbsp jaggery
- 4/5 dry red chilly
- 1 tsp oil
- Salt
How to make:
- Dry roast the horse gram on low heat till it starts to pop and changes colour to dark brown. This could take about 5-10 minutes
- Cool it completely
- In the same pan add the tsp oil and roast the red chilly, tamarind
- Combine this with the horse gram, coconut, salt and jaggery in a grinder and grind by adding water
- This will require more water than a usual chutney as the horse gram keeps thickening
- Grind till you get a smooth chutney.
- Delicious chutney is ready
- Serve it as a side to a dosa, rice , Roti or idly.
