This is a very unique chutney from the south of India. It’s a chutney served warm and has no coconut in it like the staple chutney.
Usually made with gram flour/ besan I have substituted with sattu flour for nutrition purposes.
Ingredients :
- 1 onion finely chopped
- 1 tomato finely chopped
- 1/2 inch ginger Finely chopped
- 2/3 green chili finely chopped
- 3-4 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 1 tsp urad dal
- 1/2 tsp hing
- 3 tsp besan/ gram flour/ sattu flour( add 2.5 cups and water and make a lump free slurry)
- Salt
- Oil
How to make:
- In a pan add oil
- To this add mustard seeds, urad dal and hing
- Add onion and sauté till translucent
- Then add the ginger, green chili and tomatoes.
- Sauté till done.
- Add the sattu slurry and salt and turmeric.
- Keep stirring till it comes to a boil
- Add the coriander and mix well
- Remove from flame and serve warm with dosa, Roti or idli
