Tomato Rice Dosa

This dosa does not have urad dal like the traditional dosa but has been paired with tomatoes to give it some tanginess. This dosa is soft like an uthappam



Ingredients :

  • 1 cup raw rice ( soakedfor 4 hours)
  • 1 tsp methi seeds (soak with rice)
  • 1 cup flattened rice/poha
  • 1 tsp jeera
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander
  • 6/7 curry leaves finely chopped
  • 2/3 green chilly
  • 2 large tomatoes
  • 1 inch piece ginger

How to make:

  1. Grind the raw rice, methi seeds, raw poha together with water into a smooth batter.add salt and let it ferment for 7/8 hours.
  2. Grind the tomatoes, ginger and green chilly into a smooth paste. Add this to fermented batter along with jeera , chopped coriander and curry leaves. Batter is ready to make dosa
  3. These dosas Will be soft and spongy not crispy.
  4. Heat a tawa. Add a ladle dosa batter and spread lightly. It has to be like a uttapam. Add a tsp of oil . Cover and cook with the lid on. After a few minutes once the bottom side is cooked flip over and cook.
  5. Serve delicious soft spongy tomato dosa with chutney of your choice
